Purple Pad

About Purple Pad

If you paid attention to your art class back at elementary, you’d recall that the opposite color of yellow in the color wheel is purple!

In the enchanting world of Creative Writing, the blinding color of yellow has been a part of our lives mainly because of the presence of the never-ending reams of yellow paper we constantly have to write on. Everyday, a yellow pad grows thinner as sheets gets teared from the red paper glue that connects all of them.

But this time, we’ve decided to give the yellow pad a break and use something new–the purple pad. As the complementary color of yellow, purple is definitely the other end in the binary opposition. And we decided to make it the name of the compilation of our works in soft copy.

So welcome to the Purple Pad!

The Purple Pad is our Portfolio Blog. In it are our graded works from our Creative Writing 101 for the whole second semester of AY 2007-2008. The course is an introductory step for Creative Writing Majors in creating literature. Here we learned how to make memoirs, short stories, flash fictions, monologues and poems!

We’d like to thank our professor, Prof. Jhoanna Lynn Cruz (who claims to be a goddess) for mentoring us and guiding us to the subtle waters of Creative Writing, for all the wonderful workshops, for the great lectures and for the outstanding patience. We’d never have done it without her (hmm… well, maybe we might have done it but it would be very different and boring). All in all, thank you, Ma’am!

Feel free to drop comments and questions to our works. If you have any suggestions, do contact us. We plan on maintaining this literary site for a long time and we could surely use any comments.

For now, enjoy the Purple Pad!

  1. [...] PurplePad is our Creative Writing Blogsite featuring our works for the past semesters. Yes, it’s a requirement but I would have done one like it anyway. It’s all Professor Jhoanna’s idea to publish our works online. [...]

  4. Nay, I don’t “claim to be a goddess,” not seems either, I am!
Congratulations on this very summery blog! Of course you get the full 20 points, unless otherwise specified for those with incomplete entries.
Thank YOU, children, for all the work you’ve done this semester in our class. And for sharing your lives with me. I realize that all of this might be over and above the call of duty; but hey, more is more! I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate this batch. And how hopeful I am about your futures as writers and as persons.
    Write on!
