Dread of Kindred

After the great battle with Pah
The noble hero of the mountains of Mindanao
Took the monster’s last breath.
The heavy claws of the monster
Pierced through his skin
Sulayman, dead, and his blood
Stained the ground.

The plant, inside the King’s hall,
Had the leaves dried and
Withered to its death.
A song of mourning ran through
The kingdom,
and in distress
Everyone prayed for the soul
Of the great Sulayman.

The King of Mindanao, Indarapatra
Instead of grieving
Rejoiced to death
And the jealousy
Towards Sulayman ended with
The death of his ally, his brother
The hero of their land.
And when it was time
For the King to continue
What Sulayman had begun,
He claimed to slay the last of the fiends.

He walked out of the castle’s gate
But forgot his trusted Talisman,
To which warriors entrusted
Their faith,
Protection,
And strength
And the King
Forgot the prayer of his Babaylan.
A premonition of his near death.

After Indarapatra, the jealous king,
Had slain the last of the enemies
The sea lowered its waters
And gave way to the plain fields.
The King and his people enjoyed
Their victory and the new territory.
And when Mindanao was no longer just
A mountain terrain,
It gave birth to a new place where
Jealousy and chaos could live.
Forever.
